The industry changes. fast.
I remember a pilot telling me this, and I have to admit, he's correct.
Where do you see yourself when your older?
I'll be in the aviation industry for sure, but as the comment says above, you can't decide in advance. Things change overnight, and you can't predict what's around the corner.

In October 2019 I went to a future pilots conference at Heathrow, where they had all the major airlines, flight schools and all the big employees in one room. At the time, they said that it was the best time to be applying to be a pilot, they said that the aviation industry (globally) needed 10,000 new pilots in the next 5 years. To me, this was brilliant news! All the flying schools would be open and airlines would be welcoming pilots with open arms - it was the perfect time to be applying!
But things change, and rapidly. Things like Brexit came into course, closing our borders with the Europe and the rest of the world, shutting down opportunities, and making it more difficult (but not impossible) to find opportunities.

Coronavirus has caused havoc, to say the lest, and even more opportunities have disappeared because of it. However it has made me look very seriously at alternative jobs in the pilot sector, other than becoming an airline pilot - which has been a real eye-opener for me, and has been something that I've not thought about previously.
Fundamentally, I want to be a pilot, if that's with a big international airline, or flying privately doing short hops around Europe!
If you want to know more about how I got these opportunities just let me know!
